Vitamin and Mineral deficiency

Dear Students,
This is a summary of the deficiencies that you are responsible for:
Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies
1. Night blindness and dry skin: Vitamin A deficiency. Food sources: Green vegetables, carrots, milk products

2. Beriberi: B1=Thiamine deficiency. Food sources: Organ meat, whole grains and legumes

3. Pellagra: B3= Niacin deficiency. Food sources: Lean meat, liver, grains and legumes

4. Scurvy: Vitamin C deficiency. Food sources: Citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes

4. Rickets: Vitamin D deficiency Food sources dairy products, eggs, other source Sun

6. Osteoporosis: Calcium deficiency Food sources: Milk, cheese, dried legumes

7. Anemia: Iron deficiency Food sources: Lean meats, green leafy vegetables
